Restorative Dentistry and What It Entails

We call a procedure restorative if it replaces or reconstructs something. In other words, restorative dentistry is a term for replacing or repairing teeth.

Our dentists in Pleasanton are experienced with a full range of restorative procedures. We are currently accepting new patients, so please call (925) 462-1464 with any questions or whenever you are ready to make an appointment.

Getting Immediate or Emergency Care

Tooth loss can occur naturally or due to the presence of a disease or infection. It can also happen after trauma.

If you have an emergency involving a lost tooth, please contact us immediately before taking any further action. We make a point to keep some time open during the day to deal with urgent matters such as yours.

Assessing Your Needs for the Future

In the absence of an emergency, your restorative dentistry process will start with a consultation and investigation of your oral health status. This is likely to include a review or update of your dental imaging.

Once we see your teeth and take a look at your x-rays, we should be able to talk about a range of options that is available for your specific case. Those options might include:

  • Dentures (partial and complete)
  • Composite fillings
  • Dental implants
  • Crowns and bridges

We will look at your entire situation, including your budget. Once we decide on the right option for you, we can start scheduling or even performing the procedures. Some options are available the same day you come in, while others will probably require multiple appointments.

Providing Temporary Relief and Stop-Gap Solutions

If it turns out that you are getting a restorative procedure that will take multiple appointments, there might be an in-between stage. One of the most common examples of this is a temporary crown.

Temporary crowns are common while you wait for a permanent replacement tooth. This is necessary because the laboratory work involved in making a permanent crown takes time, but you need something to act as a replacement while you wait.

Our goal is to give you the most permanent solution and to do so as quickly as possible. This sometimes requires some preparation, but we will do our best to keep you comfortable during the entire process.

Getting Your Permanent Restoration

Whether you had a quick, same-day filling or a permanent implant and crown, the end goal of any restorative procedure is to make your teeth as good as new. Our dentists want to give you a smile that looks and feels natural. That's why we recommend treatments that will last as long as possible given your oral health, your budget requirements, and any other preferences that you might have.

If you are in the area, please give us a call at (925) 462-1464. We are a fully outfitted dentist office in Pleasanton with family, cosmetic, and restorative services.
